OBJECTIVE: To make an Uncle Sam character using the selections.
Tools Needed:
Paint Shop Pro 7
Download Selections and Balloons
*Note* The graphics for this tutorial have been compressed, so, they won't look like they are supposed to.
Step 1
Open a new image, 600 X 400, 16 million colors, with transparent background.
Add a new layer. Layers/New Raster Layer,name it head. Go to Selections/Load from Disk. Select head.sel
Set your stroke color to: #FBBFA3 
Then flood fill your selection
Go to Effects/3D Effects/Cutout, set to these settings.
Interior color checked, Color: white
Shadow: #FBBFA3, Opacity: 76, Blur: 38.6
Vertical: 4, Horizontal: 2
Now would be a good time to save.
*SAVE*
Go ahead and save in .psp. Saving in psp format will save all of the layers.
Step 2
Add a new layer, name it eyes.
Go to Selections/Load from Disk. Select eyes.sel
Set your stroke color to black: #000000
Then flood fill your selection. Go to Selections/Float.
Now go to: Effects/3D Effects/Inner Bevel, choose the Round bevel. Click ok.
Here's what we have so far:
*SAVE*
Go ahead and save in .psp. Saving in psp format will save all of the layers.
Step 3
Add a new layer, name it pants back.
Go to Selections/Load from Disk. Select pantsback.sel
Set the Stroke to #000080. Flood fill the selection.
Go to Selections/Float, then, go to: Effects/3D Effects/Cutout. Use these settings;
Shadow= #C0C0C0, Vertical and Horizontal set to 4, Opacity set at 75, and Blur set to 20.
Select none
Add a new layer, name it pants.
Go to Selections/Load from Disk. Select pants.sel
Flood fill the selection with white, #FFFFFF.
Go to Selections/Float, then, go to: Effects/3D Effects/Cutout, use the same settings as before.
Selections/Select None
*SAVE*
Go ahead and save in .psp. Saving in psp format will save all of the layers.
